In Marseille in 1972, Antoine Riboud, the founder of Danone, outlined a vision for the company where economic and social goals are interdependent. This visionary outlook, well ahead of its time, has since been the cornerstone of Danone’s mission.
As part of its Renew strategy, Danone has reframed its sustainability strategy which is based on three pillars:
1. Enabling progress and good health through food
2. Protecting and restoring nature
3. Promoting people and communities
Danone has defined a set of priorities for each pillar which will be implemented in mid- to long-term goals. They focus on areas where the company can have the greatest impact and create the most value.
HEALTH
Our mission is to bring health through food to as many people as possible. With this goal in mind, we provide a range of products for every age that we are continually optimising and supplementing based on the latest scientific findings. Together with our partners, we’re driving forward initiatives to inspire people all over the world to adopt healthier eating and drinking habits. Our extensive knowledge of local culinary cultures, special nutritional requirements and challenges in the public health sector help us with this.

NATURE
We believe the well-being of people and the planet are inextricably linked. Our eating habits don’t just have an impact on our well-being. The state of our environment also depends heavily on how we eat. Farming methods, packaging materials and the approach to local eco-systems have a direct impact on our planet.
Fully in line with our ‘One Planet. One Health’ vision, we’re focusing on harmonious coexistence of people and nature.

PEOPLE
We have two main priorities in relation to the people in our environment:
WE WANT TO BE CLOSE TO PEOPLE.
For example, in the first few months of parenthood, on matters concerning the compatibility and use of our products, but also in challenging life situations, such as rare illness or care needs.
WE WORK WITH AND FOR ONE ANOTHER.
We promote an open and diverse corporate culture covering all product and specialist areas worldwide. All employees benefit from this culture. We listen to everyone’s voice. Diversity is part of our daily operations. We’re connected by team spirit and a sense of fun and are motivated by achieving healthier nutrition.

B CORP™
B CorpTM is a group of companies that are proven to meet high social and environmental standards. Danone is the first of the top 10 food producers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to obtain full B CorpTM certification. Danone DACH received the certificate earlier than expected at the start of 2023, two years before the internationally defined target of 2025.
